We're building a new service that will help people discover Scotland by train.
Scotland's rail network is a gateway to exploration. You can find castles, beaches, country walks, museums, distilleries, sports grounds, B&Bs, pubs - amongst many other things - all within easy reach of a train station.
But it can be difficult for people to find their way around the rail network. How extensive is it? How many stations are there? And what opportunities and locations can people explore near those stations?
For those with no access to a car, who can't drive, or don't want to drive, trainable will help visitors plan trips and holidays more easily, and maybe find things they never knew existed.
How will it work?
Users will be able to explore their options by:

Map - a zoomable map of the Scottish rail network and its stations

Activity - a series of activity types: history, culture, sport, food, accommodation, walks, nature
Who will it help?
Tourists
Visitors to Scotland often struggle to navigate our rail network - trainable will help them discover all the things they can explore, as well as more practical tips about good value tickets and journey times.
Residents
We think many residents in Scotland underestimate the breadth of trips and holidays they can enjoy without the need for a car. Trainable will open their eyes to new possibilities.
Businesses and attractions
We think there is huge scope to drive more visits to businesses and attractions - small and large - within easy reach of stations. A green and inclusive way of increasing and broadening their customer base and visitor numbers.
